Cartoon Raster-to-Vector Preset
Cartoon is the general-purpose preset for artwork whose shapes and color boundaries matter more than photographic texture.
Good source artwork
Use high-contrast illustrations, logos, clip art, or simplified renders. Small isolated details may be removed by Minimum Island Area or other cleanup controls, especially when those controls are set aggressively.
Palette selection
Enable enough Rasterizer swatches to represent the artwork without creating unnecessary color boundaries, vector regions, or output layers. Saved Color Palettes use their explicit Swatch Palette Vault assignments; freshly uploaded guest libraries require enabled swatch names to match entry Descriptions. SVG-only jobs do not require settings.
When to choose another preset
Choose Color Photo when continuous-tone artwork needs to be separated across multiple Rasterizer swatches. Choose Black and White Photo when a single engraved color should represent photographic tone through a two-color pattern.
Control reference
Ranges and defaults below come directly from the current filter implementation.
Minimum island area
Removes isolated color regions smaller than the selected raster-area threshold. Each footprint transfers to the touching swatch that shares the most pixel sides; Black is used only when no swatch touches it.
Analogy: Like removing a tiny mosaic tile and giving its space to the neighboring color wrapped around most of its edges.
Simplification
Reduces small boundary bends and vector points while retaining the larger silhouette.
Analogy: Like tracing a coastline with a broader pencil that skips the smallest coves.
Smoothing radius
Rounds small corners and calms jagged region boundaries.
Analogy: Like sanding a cut edge with progressively more rounding pressure.
